30 Ton Press Finished (Video)

Featured Replies

The previous thread was getting a little cluttered with large images etc. In case you missed it, the build thread can be found HERE. Here's a quick video of the finished press in operation.

Well done!

I was expecting a short clip of the press in action but all the other elements you put together made it enjoyable to watch.

If I'm going to put forth the effort to record a video, I might as well make it worth the effort to watch. :) Thanks Allen!

J -I missed the rolling mill the first time i watched your video.  You have quite the steel mill.  Good on you. -grant

Thank you.. the older I get them smarter I work.. 20 years ago when I was 18, I could take on any project with a drop of steel for an anvil and a 3lb sledge.. now I look at things with a "how can I do this so I can still move in the morning" kind of attitude.. and 38 isn't old, but 20 years of doing this for a living and many of those doing it the wrong way can do quite a number on the joints.. I want to keep doing this for another 40 years or more and "get it hot and bang it" only gets you so far before somethings gotta give. Some day I'm sure I'll have a toy.. uh er.. I mean tool for everything! :)

J, after rereading my post, I should have worded that differently.
It would have been enjoyable just watching a clip of the press in action. LOL
All the extra stuff made it even better.

Great video and quality too. I'm new to this but starting out close to your age at 37, I try to do everything the easy way if possible ;)

I like the press. I just picked up a power hammer and high on my list for the next purchase is a press... or... a mill :)

I'll keep your build in mind!

Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful.  I followed the build thread with interest and am glad to see that she's running perfectly.  Another project for the list!

outstanding!! only thing I see that you might consider is putting some type of sheathing on the hoses, maybe a old piece of fire hose or even some heavy discharge hose just to prevent chafing and possible hose rupture.
