njanvilman
For us on the other side of the pond, could you explain what a MBE is? Thanks.
the iron dwarf
a great man, he deserves this. Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) it is a honour bestowed by the Queen, there were IIRC over 1000 this year, an MBE is just one type, Sir Terry Pratchett got an OBE a few years ago and that is why he is referred to as SIR. Hector helped Sir Terry make a sword a few years ago
Joel OF
Great stuff. I noticed Hector Cole's name and number in my Dad's phone book the other day, I'll tell him he should amend it to "Sir Hector Cole".
John B
a great man, he deserves this. Hector helped Sir Terry make a sword a few years ago Congratulations to Hector, well deserved, However, a small correction, the award of the MBE, or OBE does not equate to a knighthood and the privilege of bearing the title Sir, to have that privilege, the award is KBE, equivelant for the ladies is DBE, (Dame) Terry Pratchett was awarded the OBE in 1998, and awarded/received his KBE (knighthood) in 2009,
