njanvilman Posted December 23, 2014 Share Posted December 23, 2014 If they were used correctly in their intended life, the anvil top was never struck with a hammer. There was always a saw blade on the anvil and the hammer only hit the blade. When in use, the top was very flat and usually very clean, almost to a polished finish.
