February 12, 201412 yr This is my first try at roses. I'm pretty happy with them but ended up leaving some plier scratches in the petals. Any ideas on how to avoid that?
February 12, 201412 yr I use snap ring pliers with the tips ground off. They make excellent, tiny scrolling tongs. Who cares if you upset the heat treat, Neil
February 12, 201412 yr Dedicate a pair of needle nose pliers to this and grind of the serrations on the jaws and the edges. Or find a pair of scrolling pliers with the tapered round jaws and use them. I always texture the petals before shaping, so minor marks just blend in anyway.
February 12, 201412 yr Very nice roses there! Brass left, copper right?? Interested to know how you connected them to the stem. The Valentine recipient will be most impressed!
February 13, 201412 yr Author Thanks for the comments and suggestions guys. Ausfire, yes they're brass and copper, the stem just goes through the petals and then is peened over them. I heat colored the copper one today
February 14, 201412 yr Very pretty roses! Awesome shapes and colors of the petals. I'm sure they will be much appreciated. Great job!
