April 11, 201313 yr Hi, The firescreen was delivered today. The dragons were forged several yrs ago by my good friend Tom Dudkowski (deceased) and me using a pneumatic hammer and hand held chisels. The bronze door knocker was installed several months ago on a home in Cannon Beach,Or. Thanks for looking, John
April 11, 201313 yr On the door knocker, is there something that knocks on the bronze plate or do you just use your hand to knock? It is very nice work and bronze can be temperamental.
April 11, 201313 yr Author SCDave, There is a piece of 1" r x about 3/4 tall bronze tig welded on the back of the lower starfish and the starfish are hinged to move about 2". It hits hard enough to rattle the house. I was thinking that I may have to dampen the sound, but no complaints so far. The overall length is 17". I'd much rather work in bronze than steel as it moves so nicely. Like anything, it's just a matter of getting a feel for it and keeping an eye on the heat. John
