jasonmichalski
I just finished my second darkhouse spear. I also forged a new set of tines for my heavy duty spear. I ended up welding in the wedge because it was giving me some trouble but it works great now.

Aden Cassidy
Nice looking bit of gear, but isn't something like that called a Trident. Did you actually catch the fish using that WOW, my grandfather used to do a bit of spear fishing underwater when he was younger. By the way what sort of fish are those. Bentiron1946
That's some kinda gig for sure! You could gig a much bigger fish with that as well as some really big bull frogs, WOW!! Maybe you should go down in the South and go after some Alligator Gar, some of them are pretty good sized fish. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Alligator_Gar_6_Feet_129_lbs_Brazos_River_8_Nov_04a.jpg
jasonmichalski
Nice looking bit of gear, but isn't something like that called a Trident. Did you actually catch the fish using that WOW, my grandfather used to do a bit of spear fishing underwater when he was younger. By the way what sort of fish are those. a trident would have three tines, and the fish are pike they get spear though the ice from a darkhouse, which lets you see below. jasonmichalski
Here is a darkhouse spear I just finished testing I still have to clean up the welds and I think I'm going to get this one powder coated, because this ones all mine. B) The last pic is of a little one that wouldn't leave my decoy alone.
adambieber
That thing looks so heavy that all you have to do is drop it on them!
3DistinctKnocks
Gator gar's scales are so hard you pretty much have to shoot them with a bow equipped with a fishing rig. I don't know if any hand thrown spear would penetrate those scales. Maybe on a young gator gar. Great looking spear, Jason. I really like the 7 prong design. That'd be a WONDERFUL frog gig if the prongs were a little smaller diameter. I see you're in MI...you'll have a ball hitting pike and similar fish.
