njanvilman
If the tools do a job as intended, or do something neat by accident, then that is the answer. Use whatever works for you. We are all makers....
HWooldridge
Put some sheet cardboard or light sheet metal between the jaws and play around with twisting and pinching motions. You'll learn pretty quickly how well they work.
Francis Trez Cole
I have seen them for sale in the past for working sheet copper.
Frank Turley
Not sure about leaf work, but a pair I have has a single curve for one slender jaw and two curved "prongs" for the other jaw. They are called "ball tongs," as for holding, say, a ball on the top-end of an andiron standard.

David Gaddis
Boy, those nose things bring back a lot of memories, good and bad. I guess you would call those nose tongs ! Carry on
Sweany
I bet they have a use. If you come at me with any one of those pliers . I'll tell you anything you wanna know! :( :D
pkrankow
Interesting and handy. Careful, welding probably softened the pliers so they will not take as much force as before. I haven't modified the jaws of a pair of pliers, but I did add long reins on a pair. Not very good for forging (poor grip), but very handy as pickup tongs and for manipulating stuff in the fire because they are adjustable.
