July 14, 201213 yr the blower i just got for $20.00 , a plow blade i got for free , a broke'n harley davadson cross over pipe , going to work on some legs this week end , but all and all im like'n it ! blowes good ! this will be my demo forge...
July 14, 201213 yr Author i was concerned about the pipe going down the tube insted of up but i blowes good and strong...
July 15, 201213 yr Yea, buddy! The air pressure will form a "pillow" of air in the dirt leg. I'm seeing that baby with a 1" rim around it and some legs that have a sweet curve to them to match the flow of the air line. Maybe some more frame parts can be scavenged and repurposed??? Got a spare Springer front end laying around?
July 15, 201213 yr Author think i have found a old iron bar stool with a swivel top i can take off and just use the legs and paint it all black... something like this...
July 17, 201213 yr How deep is it? Sticking long bar stock into the fire might be a tad difficult, if the rim is too high.
July 17, 201213 yr looks good.the disc that I have on hand are not that deep.gonna have to go prowling
July 18, 201213 yr Author im not shure on that id gess 4 in.? i have used it once now just to see if it worked , it does ! very good to ! i mound up the coal and could put in 30 in. round stock to bend for a dinner bell , so it works whell...
July 19, 201213 yr Author i just got the legs today, this thing i do ( work ) keeps getting in the way of my blacksmith time....
July 23, 201213 yr Great idea using a plow blade, it made me look at all the old rusty plows we have lying around the farmlands out here in a different light. I saw one with "harrow" blades that were ruffled a bit, and I laughed that it would look like a big flower if it were set horizontally , but the indents would be great for holding stock in different directions. (see attatched stock pic) Any lady smiths out there want to build a flower-forge? :D
July 28, 201213 yr Author i got a order for a coat rack and some dinner bells so i have been doing that , its all sitting there , just the time and not 105 dgrees outside. been sleeping till late and getting up and working till 3 or 4 in the morning...
July 30, 201213 yr Author lol, ya it came out nice , dont need it now though , so i might let it go to the next guy... works grate to !

May 14, 201313 yr I made a wok for the grill using a smooth disc blade that the bearing ate up. Welded a plug in the hole,, ground it smooth, and a wok was born.
May 14, 201313 yr Farmall beat me to it. I have made several woks using the disc. I welded 2 used horseshoes on all of mine for handles.
May 14, 201313 yr I am liking the idea of using a disk.... Its sort of a intuitive step up from a brake drum forge.... Idea of using disk has floated through my gray matter, will have to watch for a disk for my next effort.... Also would like to see forge alight.... Dale
May 14, 201313 yr On very nice. I like that. That must be what they are using in this picture. I'd like to see it all fired up too. Andy
November 11, 201312 yr Sorry to drag up this old thread but thought it better than starting a new one. I've acquired a plow disc just like this one and fancy having a go at making it into a portable forge. The disc has a crack right over the hole, I'm guessing they're just regular steel and weld up ok? The edges have rusted quite thin too so they'll need to be ground back a bit. Does anyone else use this style of forge? Andy
