I am a starting blacksmith, and would like a 100 pound anvil, perferably for a good price, i don't mind if it is rusting. please pm me if you are saling one near, portland or.

And should i Hvae posted this some were else. :D

Probably under Tailgating on this site; it's the forum for buying and selling ; but you should also put it on the Portland CraigsList, up at the local feed store (if you have one), etc.

If you are in Portland Oregon you should be posting on the NWBA (Northwest Blacksmith Association) site. There are probably a couple of hundred members within half an hour drive. The Spring conference was in Kelso just fifty miles North of you. Eric Sprado,Deadwood, Oregon.

You should pay attention to Craigslist down in the Medford, Klamath/Keno and Redding areas. There have been some outstanding deals lately with really nice anvils going for very reasonable prices.

Welcome aboard Oregonian guy, glad to have you. If you'll put your general location in your header we won't be straining our old fart memories remembering who's in the area when we're traveling and want a snack, beer or place to nap.

Hook up with the NWBA, it's a large active organization and you'll not only discover lots of folk within visiting distance you'll find out how much easier it is to find tools and equipment with a large network of folk on your side.

Frosty The Lucky.

If you watch Craigslist there are often deals to be had here in Portland. What are you doing for blacksmithing?
I have 500# or more of forklift tine drops. You could make a decent post anvil in a pinch. The bigger drops are 90# and 2-1/2"x6"x16".
There's 5-6 on CL now. The 400# for $1,000
isn't too bad of a price per pound.....

But. I found my 300# Fisher for $360 and 120# for $130 by looking 8-9 times or more a day. I've seen other anvils posted that were removed in minutes/hours that were posted at or near $1.00 a pound.
It really pays to look often.
