windancer Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 My drill press capacitor died- have to start it by hand. Tool it to a local place where I go and he said that Delta did not offer the capacitor- have to buy the whole motor. Nothing printed on the capacitor. I won't pay $175 fort a capacitor. Anyone have any thoughts about how to find what capacitor I need? Thanks, Dave Quote
jimbob Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 is there a motor re-winding business near you, if so I would contact them. I'm sure that they could come up with a replacement. Quote
BIGGUNDOCTOR Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 Contact Delta directly. A lot of the info , and schematics are online now too. A good motor shop should be able to help you out too. Quote
macbruce Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 Delta doesn't exist anymore, they're gone, It's just a meaningless former American brand name sold to the highest bidder years ago. Getting parts for Chinese goods can be tough at best...Done with rant......I wish you luck but it might be easier to get another motor from an outfit that stands behind their products........ Quote
KenH Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Are starting caps not pretty generic? Just look for a motor starting cap for a motor in the same up range and wire that in. Should work just fine. Ken h. Quote
thingmaker3 Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 The starting cap might be labeled with the needed info (microfarads, voltage limits) to order another. Plenty of places to buy 'em from IF you know the exact specs. Quote
jimbob Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 might try surplus center at http://www.surpluscenter.com/sort.asp?catname=electric&keyword=EMRC Quote
