teenylittlemetalguy Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 I felt it my duty to share this trick with anyone else that chops or has chopped wood. video says it all. plus the website "what is it?" is loads of time wasting fun.http://55tools.blogspot.com/2011/05/set-388.html I think back on how many cords I have split over my lifetime and really feel foolish now for not having come up with this idea myself. pkrankow Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 I have seen that done with a small tire before, but that looks a whole lot more convenient. Basically a rubber band for the log! Easy to whip up too. Phil Quote
Frosty Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 I like it. Too bad I'm not a gonna cut wood no more! Well . . . . For the not messin around crowd there's a small tractor attachment powered off the front PTO that works kind of like forks with a bonus. Pick up the log with the forks, the guy in front pulls a lever, (detent lever, no holding the thing) and a chain pulls the log into the saw position and stops at the selected length, the saw cuts the log and from below another dog pushes the block into the splitting blades. The split wood drops onto a conveyor or into a trailer. Repeat till you're out of tree and fetch another. Frosty the Lucky. Quote
