Google has started a new service called Google book search. They have scanned whole books onto the web and you can search for any word in the book, as well as title, author, and copyright date. Many books can be down loaded in pdf format if they have been given permission or the copyright has expired. Let's start a list of what we find.

On the right of the screen (at least on mine-I'm using Firefox), there is a section called Contents. You can go to the chapter heading and then click on it. Click on the section which interests you and then you can use the scroll bar next to the book page. (Black arrow on the right)

At the Top of the screen, you have one of the cooler features of Google Books, the ability to make it look and read like a book on your computer screen. Hit the two page icon next to the magnifying glass at the top of the screen. It changes it so you simply read from one page to the next (Black horizontal arrow at the top of the screen). To flip the pages, simply click the arrows at the top of the screen (vertical black arrow).

If you like the book, you can print it out via the Download PDF button at the top of the screen. (circled in red).

Come, see the Dolphin's anchor forged! 'tis at a white heat now -

All clad in leathern panoply, their broad hands only bare,
Some rest upon their sledges here, some work the windlass there.

The windlass strains the tackle-chains - the black mold heaves below;
And red and deep, a hundred veins burst out at every throe.
It rises, roars, rends all outright - O Vulcan, what a glow!
'Tis blinding white, 'tis blasting bright - the high sun shines not so!

right click on the "download" button. In the drop down box choose "save target as". Choose a save location and save it. When it downloads you can open it at your leasure without waiting forever (if you have slow modem dial-up).

In China there's some limitation on the internet access, but not in Taiwan. From all the google links you mentioned, only one gives me access to the full book + download: "The Manufacture of Steel: Containing the..." I tried to search for the title from the search page but with the same result...
Too bad, so many resources I can't access!
