  1. We have guy at work who ran a turret lathe in the navy during Vietnam. He said the worst thing about it was the coolant sloshing around.
  2. No, I use a file and a vise, then a stone. My experience with sharpening tools with a bench grinder is limited but they get hot quickly.
  3. Look at what size wheels it uses and what the arbor size is. Some times those good deals aren't so great when you go to buy a new wheel. I have a 1hp. I don't use much anymore, I found a harbour freight angle grinder works just as good for me. Jim
  4. Welcome, have you had a chance to look at the blueprints section? I just found it last week. Some good ideas/stuff there. Jim
  5. Nice, thanks for sharing. Jim
  6. BT, pardon my ignorance, what is that? Looks like a really cool handle.....Jim
  7. Did you look at the surplus center? They have some new and used blowers. Might not be 160cfm. But a lot less cost.
  8. That's amazing work! I don't have that much patience. I would like to see some more. Jim
  9. That was an ugly picture let's try this one. Not bad for $40.00?
  10. Here is a picture of something that practically "jumped" into my car last weekend at a N.W.B.A. conference in Enumclaw, Wa. It needs a little fixing but it's in good shape. No marks on it other than a 50 on the outer jaw. Jim
  11. What kind of drill are you using, how big? KOOLMIST isn't too bad for using in a squirt bottle. And it's not too expensive, AW32 is ok too if you really want oil and you can get that to come through a squeeze bottle. Jim
  12. If you're building a deck and you write all the tape measurements down in decimals, to the third place. My brother-in-law kinda gave me a weird look. Jim
  13. I run a lathe for a living and I have one in my soon to be finished shop at home. Jim
  14. Thank you. Wonder how many more there are.
  15. Hello. Been here a couple of times, got here from chatting with a fellow from another site. Mostly make knives but I play around in the fire when I can. I'm building a new shop right now so I haven't been working much. Looking forward to making some projects when it's done. If there are any smiths in the southern Willamette valley interested in a hammerin in the spring let me know. Jim
