jeremy k
Swage blocks do get used - but you need to have one to use it. I use mine, not every day but I use them. - JK
KYBOY
I use mine just about every time Im in the shop. We weld cable in it and its awsome for forming tong jaws. Has some very good spoon and shovel impressions as well..Well worth the money
329373
I got one not long ago. For the price it's GREAT. However be prepared to do lots of finishing work on it when it arrives. I knew this going in. It is straight from the sand at the foundry. A few hours with a die/snag grinder and you will have a first rate swage block that would cost you 5X more IF you could find on. Get one and enjoy finally having it. JB Bergman
Dave Hammer
I have one of those swage blocks and I love it. It's small and light enough to lift easily and use on top of my anvil. I put a little "saddle" on the side of my anvil stand for it so it's always close by when I need it.
philip in china
How heavy is it? I have a 60 pound block which looks very similar but not quite the same. I use it quite a lot and the students use it even more. Mine is ductile iron although I doubt if that makes much difference.
solvarr
On the salt fork website showing the swege block it looks a little thin on the hollow that is bottom right of side one. I would be careful when hitting there. Otherwise it looks like a good value and I almost bought one. I ended up finding one at Pennsic that suited my needs perfectly. Thomas Dean
A great block but as mentioned above, be ready to do a couple hours of finish work on it. (if it was in "ready to use" condition the cost would be out the roof!) The picture solvarr refers to is deceptive, in real life the block is plenty thick in that area. I purchased mine several years back and have enjoyed owning it. Don't use it everytime I'm in the shop but it has paid for itself for sure. Weight is about 65lbs. creek
I've had one for about four years now. It has come in handy from time to time. But like everyone has said, your gonna have to do a little work once you get it, that is how they offer it at the price they do. But it is very nice to have around. gaylan veater
Hi, I also have one I bought a few years back. It has worked great for me. A little clean up when I got it which I knew up front. I have not had any problems of it being to thin. For the money it is a great deal!!! Gaylan
