  1. The best way to sharpen any drill is lots of practice, when i first started my trade as an apprentice tool maker in the 70's i was given a box of blunt drills and told to sharpen them. The old saying pratice makes perfect. With reams tool and cutter grinder is the only thing i know of to sharpen them Oz cheers
  2. G'day to all I'm John from Frankston Vic a Fitter by trade on weekends i have a shed at a craft village in Tyabb where i do wrought iron work. 8-9 weeks ago i became a learner smithy and love it Cheers :D

  4. 1 bucket 3 parts of water sprinkle 1/2 inch of chaff as they go for the chaff they fall in. They can swim for so long ( one method ) one from an ozzie
  5. I use French chalk/engineering chalk or blue marking out dye or dark blue oil paint watered down with methylated spirits If that helps we use it in the metal trade Onya mate
  6. WD 40 is also good for getting grease of hands / paint jobs also puts a shine on plastic components

  8. Here in the land of OZ u can get it at Bunnings in cleaning section , purchased some yesterday

  10. I put my rusty metal parts in brown vinegar leave them in soaking for a few days, then hose down with water and dry
  11. I use kerosene when drilling alloy, and i use soluble oil plus mix it with water in to a paste . that way you can drill and tap all steels , i have been useing this method for 35 yrs works for me Good Luck Jocko 58
