Thanks Frosty. I’ve got a big lug wrench, with a 3/4 shaft that’s the perfect diameter and length for the handle, just have to make the balls for the ends. It’s going to take me longer to brush it down and oil it than to make the handle and spring. I would use cold rolled, but I don’t have the right size in my scrap pile, I won’t use, or allow, a cheater on my vice either

Rojo, Looks good, I'm looking forward to a report on how it works Went to an antique fair with the wife yesterday, last day of a three day event, mostly junk but one man had some blacksmith equipment, that was way overpriced. There was a post vice leaning against a tree that I didn't see a price on and he said $60 when I asked him about it. I said no spring or handle, let me check the screw and box, which were very good, after I checked everything he asked what I'd offer and when I said $30 he said sold. 5 1/2 jaws, 55 lbs. There was one other small post vice, that was bent up like a pretzel, at another vendor's that she wanted $100, I walked away laughing.

Shainarue, I agree with Billy on how to make it. You have plenty of time to finish it and we’ll be waiting very impatiently for the pictures

Thanks to all for the positive comments, it was a fun project and showed me that I have to make some more tools the proper size for the project before I start it

I was able to fire up the forge today and made this one. First blade shaped object and dragon for me. The blade looks crooked in the picture, but it's not, just a bad photographer .

Goods, your tomahawks are looking great! I like how you set the blade down in front of the eye, I haven't tried that yet, but I will soon. Twisted, Follow the directions in Jennifer's video and you won't have any trouble making them,. I enjoy making them, completed my third a few weeks ago for a customer. When I delivered it he ordered three more and since then I have received 9 more orders from people that he showed it to. I'll be busy the next couple of weeks.

Pat, I have not noticed much loss of length when twisting my stock, but I always start with extra to ensure I have the same pattern on the ends. I have not bent twisted stock in a circle. I would add at least 8 inches and cut to size after bending. Size of stock may make a difference. Your half circle looks great, did you do any before/after measurements on it?

Nice cross Das and good job on the flame coloring, your imagination always amazes me. Have you thought about a two tone finish on one? I'm thinking a flame colored cross with the rest a copper sulfate or brass brushed finish would take it to another level.

I finished the sheath for the hawk I made last week and delivered it to the customer. He must have been happy, because he ordered three more.
