  1. Human ingenuity. Nice video. I was thinking of some sort of crank mechanism to animate a smaller version. Leverage is your friend.
  2. I was going to say a tattered piece of canvas or cloth would look good for a sail but forgot about the candle part... I love your creativity.
  3. Here's some motivating sounds from years ago.
  4. Your two headed bird suggestion reminds me of the Roc that Ray created for 7th Voyage of Sinbad. Funny in mythology it only has one head. He created. I would never pressure you on purpose... I am an insufferable dreamer.
  5. No, not animatronic. It's on the tip of my tongue but is stuck there. Google don't help if you can't ask it the right question...
  6. A great idea that I didn't even consider, use as is with some polishing. I make some odd shaped stuff. Or a little grining and have a bird bick... . Thanks Geeze, where do I start replying to your comments....? The only kinetic sculptures I have made are some cheesey mechanical moving things, not called kinetic but I cannot remember the name for them. And some weather vanes. But I'm a fan of moving art. How about a marionette bird sculpture? Marionettes can be quite intricate, but it would have to be small to keep the weight down. Plenty of beak and jaw clacking possibilities there. I have 14 of them btw but there's more to be had. I would take you up on that, Larry! Maybe we could collaberate on a project, if not for the distance..... I stripped a seed planter on the old place before we moved, all that was left was the frame. Lot of rusty wheels, cogs and whatnot. I wanted to take an old pull roadgrader on a trailer but some people stepped in on that. Thanks. That made my day. You should start a "Fun Fact of the Day" thread.... I would look forward to that. Thanks all.
  7. I agree with all of the above. I lost my job once and had to buy COBRA insurance and it fairly well chewed through my savings in short order. But it was better than not being covered if something did happen. I look at it this way, which isn't much help, but either you don't try something and never know, or look at it as "a bird in the hand" situation. It depends on the individual. I've gone for the brass ring a few times and won and lost. Whatever you do, I wish you the best, of course.
  8. Those are some great items Will, thanks for sharing them. Try not to take over that whole cabinet. Those could very well be disc marks. Very nice.... There Is a place I want to visit within range called Endor Furnace, it's the remains of a furnace that operated during the Civil War and then made railcar wheels before going bust. I think there are preservation plans for it. So much I'd like to see & do. Here's someone's souvenere/curiosity I picked up at the flea market for .50 cents just because I like RR stuff. It's cast and about 4" long. It's suprisingly heavey, they don't make stuff anymore like this. I like it also because "The General" is one of my favorite old movies with Buster Keaton. Also a few arrow heads and what I like to believe are hide scrapers.
  9. You have a good dr. I've had ones that believe a pill is the only answer. I'm very touchy when it comes to medicines. Pills have their place but not for everything. My mom once had a doctor tell her work, exercise and fresh air do wonders for what ails you. She's still going strong at 81. Everything in moderation and regular check ups.
  10. I was thinking of drilling a small hole in one to see what the chips looked like. There is a casting or forging line on them. Or a spark test. I just got them. May be there are better uses for it. Still, a White Raven sculpture would be fun, and I hear they are rare....
  11. Fangs work. Or T-Rex toenail... Or I could get really imaginative...
  12. You can always poke some back and make me feel better...
  13. Now I'm sorry for poking fun at you.
  14. I see the speed boat now and a shark too. Also a whale if you look at it backwards. I'll let it sit there and see what else comes up.
  15. Trust me, don't bother lookin it up. It's pathetic even with Charles Bronson in it. I was just poking fun at you. Vincent was pretty good in "House on Haunted Hill" though. Corny, but good.
  16. Personally, I would bave stubbed my to on the bedpost, and fell down and cracked my head on the floor on the way to the plate glass door.
  17. I suppose "Master of the World" movie left you flat. I love Verne but Vincent Price must have been desparate.
  18. I found a big box of bird beaks/claws for cheap. I keep one on the coffee table so I can look at it once in a while and wonder other uses I can find for them.
  19. Happy news. I believe a persons outlook impacts outcomes and happy people recover faster. Easy to say, I know. But it's true.
  20. You have to be able to laugh at yourself some time. https://www.iforgeiron.com/topic/76481-how-about-this/
  21. I guess "conjure" was not the best word to use. I just looked it up. Substitute "form".... .
