  1. Forgeries. Hehe. Nice. I like that. I should try it on money. Thanks. Better to crash on of these than the original. Not that I can afford one. Unless I start forging coins.
  2. 4500# yikes. Where is the motor mounted on the one you pictured?
  3. Thanks They are actually harbor freight 79cc predator engines. I strip them down take out low oil sensor /governor and mount them vertically. Then I make a set of " flathead" fins for the top to make them look more interesting. If they go bad. 99.00 gets you a new one. They rarely do. Very good honda clone motor. Here's another experimental bike I made from a fat tire bike from the store. I used a golf cart type clutch on it and a little bigger predator motor. Not really historically accurate but kinda cool. Blacksmithing has somewhat phased out my bike building. For now any way.
  4. Anyone have an idea of what the rpm needs to be to drive this. I will figure it out once I get to touch the hammer again but while I wait I am scheming a way to mount a motor on the frame of hammer off to the side and use a automotive belt to drive it instead of the set up they have now. I know it can be done. Just want to have at least an idea in place before I move it into my shop as whether or not I use the ceiling contraption will determine shop placement to some extent. Thanks.
  5. Guess this is right category for this. Made these last couple years. Frame and sheet metal all from scratch on Harley replica. Sheet metal on Indian replica from scratch. Bought frame.
  6. No. Waiting until new shop is ready. Couple weeks at least.
  7. I'm sure if you explained to her that having a hammer would minimize the pain that results from forging she would HAVE to let you get it. What wife wants her husband to be in pain???? (besides mine.......sometimes)
  8. Nah. It seemed to work great. Not sure why it was modified in the first place. Any operational advantages to the original way verses this way? i may do away with the overhead jackshaft assembly in favor of a side bracket mounted motor like I've seen on the web. Searching for info but not tons out there on these so it seems. Anybody got a rough idea on the weight of that thing? 2k? 2500? my guess, need to size my trailer accordingly.
  9. Well, I found my new hammer. 100# ( or so) Williams power hammer with a different hammer assembly from best I can tell. Just need to dig her out. Tried it out and it seems to be very responsive. Thoughts? Information? Im planning on selling my homemade leaf spring hammer if anyone in southern michigan is interested. PM me. Picture of leaf spring hammer Picture of leaf spring hammer
  10. New die. Didnt put eyes in this one. Hood better. Wife said I should have turned it into an animal head. She's right. ( as always. Hehe) little better on the general shape , cheek bones , and eyes. But still not very happy with it. Also. Don't like nostrils. Need to pull outer nose down and over nostril hole. He looks kinda like a monkey man. Will try again tomorrow. No debt I will post a picture of die tomorrow. They are nothing special. Made with metabo and die grinder. Only take half hour or so. I do them to save time and put them in my hyd. Press. Prob won't produce for sale. Once I get them to a point I'm happy with I usually get bored and move on to next design. questions are always welcome.
  11. Thanks Had an little bit of time tonight to test concept on new wizardy kinda thingy. Made die of roughed out face. Not real happy with outcome other than taking advice from frosty on beard. Will make new die with smaller nose and no eyes. Didn't get to finish as I was called in to dinner by boss. His hood looks like a comb-over. Hehe.
  12. Thanks guys. I think he's upset because I beat on him for an hour or so Kim Thomas has a great video on making these on you tube that's where I learned the nose from
  13. No. From sqarestock. I upset the bottom
  14. Thanks. No. That's neighboring garage. (I wish it were) my shop is an old chicken coop im gearing up for a makeover though I gotta do something about the beard. Will improve on next version
