just where you are in the world. different anvils can be found in different regions and location can help be a tiebreaker. lots of those unmarked cast iron anvils are hard to tell apart.

COOL BEANS!

Not looking for criticism, just a manufacturer. If you don't know who the manufacturer is just say so. The "grinding" was a spark test. The bottom pictures are after the spark test and wire wheel on a grinder.
Whoa brotha, rein it in a tad. TP was just trying to help, and I noticed you did not even answer his questions. We can't do much to help if you can't get us the info we need.

I don't have one but now I want one. looks like it could be super handy.

one year we had a hundred odd extra bales of green hay we decided to store in our 25x40 hardshell greenhouse. got so hot the hay caught fire and burnt the greenhouse quite thoroughly. can't say we bothered with extinguishers. went straight to hoses. our insurance company paid 9000 more than it took to do repairs, so we actually came out on top. Yes it really was accidental.

an Amatige Mousehole. wrought body with a toolsteel faceplate. very good quality.
It is marked 148lbs. 50 bucks is a total steal. that anvil would go for $600 in my area easy.

It's ok Frosty, I'm not right in the head either. Tubalcain 2 its just plain sheetmetal and steel with a coat of poly.
regular polyurethane? I didn't know you could use that on steel.

I can't believe your mom let you take that in the house! It was more of a trade than a gift but C-1 can't seem to get that through his (not so overly thin) skull.

Oh, You should've seen the letteropenosaurus I made when I was starting out!
Update: I took it out of the vinegar and wire brushed it. Man, I will be doing this again fore sure!
next time try to split the ends with a hut cut instead of a cut off wheel.

I like the handle on that letter opener, Chris. the braid could be a tad tighter, but hey, who cares.

we have had goats and lgds to guard um, but the parasites were so bad at our old place we had trouble keeping them healthy.
1 hour ago, littleblacksmith said:we got a new dog a few months ago, my mom wants another one, but dad is saying no, that one is enough!
mom want's a dog, dad does not want a dog, so they'll compromise.... and get a dog. that's how things roll 'round here, anyway.
