  1. NICE SCORE THOMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dan L, I ask because for the price you could sell the "old" steel for you could probably buy quite a bit of wrought iron.
  2. Is that an ANCHOR!? That thing is huge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Thank you very much. As soon as I feel better(dang flu) i'll be able to get back in the shop, and I might try and work on the bottom one a little more. The thing is, they are both the same size, and are on the ends of one bar. They look symmetrical, like same height and width, but I will work on them both to see if I cannot turn them into even more perfect scrolls. And yes, there is that Japanese thing going on with the slight imperfection making it perfect, haha.
  4. Awww, you guys honor me BIGTIME. Yeah, I was doing the second scroll while the pushy electrician was putting in my lights, so I really didn't have the concentration on the second. I will tweak it a little and see if I can't correct it to be as close if not EXACTLY perfect as the other. And I do agree, blacksmiths not only forge steel, we forge air as well, and depending on the peice, fire, earth, and water too!
  5. Aww come on Gobbler! That would be pretty amazing. Nice hammer Glenn!
  6. If at first you don't succeed, try try try try again(I can't beleive this one isn't on here yet!).
  7. Nice. Real cool blade and cool sheath, they match really well.
  8. SAW THE GORGEOUS TOP OF WHAT LOOKED LIKE (AND WAS!) A HUGE AIR POWERED POWER HAMMER!!!!!! And on closer ispection it turned out to be an actual..........
  9. The missus comes out with the honey-do list five miles long that she just NEEDS to get done. So we.............
  10. It has 86, it can be used as a hammer/blackjack.
  11. I do this neat cake cover and plate holder, it looks like a 3/4 around metal base that goes around underneath the plate itself, and then coming off of that, up and over the cake itself is a shephard's hook style arch, so that when you take the cover off of the peice of cake/pie/tray of muffins/tray of cupcakes, you can hang the glass cover right on a little hook at the end of the shephards hook. When the cover is hanging on the hook as well it acts as a sneezeguard.
  12. Being on the subject of poisonous gas, what kind of poisonous gasses are in coal smoke?
  13. You should see my snake tale collar, it is a way of joining two peices of steel so that no welds are involved, and holds as tight as a good handshake. I'll get some pictures up soon, as well as a blueprint maybe.
  14. Smitty, you are probably hitting them too hard, get them up to a good mid orange heat and then lightly tape them around the peice, then for added security, sneak a mig/tig/stick weld on them, if you feel they are not tight enough..
  15. Perhaps you could read the first opening thread? If you stay with all the rules and stuff and never try something that according to the "rules" won't work, you'll never learn anything. Good to know though Thom, graphite sounds alot cheaper. I also wonder about tungsten grindings, as they are metal already, would they not just bond into the folds of the steel?
