  1. anasasi, saying hello back, since you are in Omaha, wondering where you get your coal? Im using a bucket forge/foundry with hardwood charrcoal
  2. Well, after chatting with Glenn, AND researching the net, I opted out of the garage sale 'bargain' since for just a bit more I found a new garaunteed one on the net. havn't bought it yet, but decided not to be a fool rushing in. Denny
  3. Thanks, hope its still there. Denny
  4. Oh, I saw an anvil at a garage sale for $10. Since I am a VERY new beginner, would I be missing much if the back side where the two holes are was busted off?? Denny
  5. found an arc-welder at a garage sale for 100 bones. before I buy it what should I look out for? I am VERY new to this topic. Denny
  6. Scot, I have almost 0 experience with metals (ok there is no ‘almost’) but I jumped in feet first and have already cast a part for my car. (ok I’m going to recast it cause I learned some things about molding since I started) but hey its aluminum, I cam melt that in about 10 min. in my bucket forge. I truly am hooked, found a guy down the road selling an arc welder for 100 bones…trying to come up with the scratch to get it. Any thing I should know about buying a used arc welder? Denny
  7. scrapman1077, thanks for the link, Ive been there a couple of time. In fact I think that is where I got the refractory recipe from. it is a good site. FrankW, Hope you had a good holiday, I would love to hear about how a modern blacksmith would use Peat for fuel. Dodge, I think you and I actually live near each other, would like to see your set up. all others, Thank you for the kind welcome, cant wait to learn more
  8. All, Brand new to the Art, just got to watch Glenn present tonights blueprints. It was great. I got into metal working just a few weeks ago, I had to manufature a part for my car, so started by makeing a plaster form, melted some aluminum in a bucket forge. now Im hooked, and need to learn a bunch more. Im pretty good with my hands and my wife supports my hobbies......for the most part . Hope to learn more and have fun with my projects. Oh, I think the only stupid questions is the one not asked, so if my queries sound strange, please forgive me. Denny
