  1. This is not by me!! but by a lovely artist blacksmith who lives near me and has taught me some valuble lessons. I think its beautiful - it was on the workbench last time i visited the workshop.

  3. yeah ive been burned lots of times form silver pendants getting too hot over the fire and then when you stand up and it hits your skin again.. ouch.. i never wear my wedding ring ever really - its too much of a pain gets in the way of everything! maybe special occasions - i think we should all relax about the wedding rings - dont they know we love em??

  7. poor you master sells - missed you on the chat last night and heard about your attack! really glad you sound ok - and as for your son tell him there are many times a first aider can be of huge use when there is no blood about at all - blood is only one scenario - and if it makes him feel any better im a first aider and even reading these posts makes me feel faint! not everyone has the same gifts and blood just might not be his bag! get well soon master!

    hey jeffrey - sounds like youve got a great time lined up - job sounds v cool! this site is brilliant for information - i dont have an awful lot of experience myself and have found out a lot of things to help me from people on IFI - loads of cool stuff in the gallery too! have fun!

  11. i like the tolerance to different religions shown on the prayer list page - surely prayer to help others whoever its directed at is such a positive thing, and something anyone can do. thanks for the page. (from the occasional girl)

  13. im doing some large elephant sculptures at the moment covered in thin sheet steel and am doing it cold - thats why i was looking on this section - great to have a cold working section for general tips at least if not eventually armour related stuff. may as well strip ifi members of all the info they know after all...;)

  16. i agree with everyone - number one is the most loveable - but i do like the way the corner of the rail on number three meets the forged top - thats pretty tactile which is what they wanted too yeah? really like all of the samples - am interested which one they pick...
  17. i dont care wot the brand i get given allsorts so i dont complain! but i recently got some very thin ones and i reckon they are much better

  19. more beautiful work - i love them, particularly the second one which looks more like a mad max prehistoric skull to me than a mozzie... very tribal as well.. they have very beautiful lines, i guess you draw beautifully too? you could sell great tattoo designs! keep em coming i reckon theyre incredible.
  20. aeneas the project looks wicked - how fabulous for the kids to create something like this- i do work with kids at my childrens school sometimes and it is great helping them come up with ideas and techniques. bet that looks wicked in the shcool!

HI Johannes - how frustrating - try not to be too downhearted though. like everyone keeps saying theres lots you can do, I would have a look at silver smithing, as the scale is so much smaller and the strain so much less on your wrist even using the right hand. I have found that working with silver has made my work with steel and my bigger work much neater than it used to be, from having to be more careful. Like Frosty said just now tho - how useful to end up with a really good left hand for smithing, and look at it like this - an injury is the only thing that will force you to hone those skills. You will be quids in later on when youre ambidextrous! good luck!
