  1. Don't know what it is, but I know what I could use it for. "HONEY COME HERE. LOOK WHAT i MADE!"
  2. Well, luckily for me, the leg on my vice was broken off before I got it. Only a stub about 6 inches long. I took a piece of 1 inch black iron, heated up one end and drove it on the stub. So mine will come apart.
  3. That looks good. I think I'll copy it. OH WAIT. I already did!
  4. When I find something I want, I print out the page and take it the store. If it is cheaper at the online store, I show them the print out and they match it.
  5. I have 5 4 1/2 inch angle grinders from HF. They are the blue ones labled DRILL MASTER. I bought the first one on sale for $9.95 in a pinch. Figured it to be disposable. Now each one has a different wheel on it. Wire, flap, grinding, cutoff. Except for brushes, and a anual opening of the gear box for inspection and re lube, they have worked great for over 5 years. I also have 5 air die grinders from them. Central Pneumatic. Again with different wheels on each. 3 angle, and 2 straight. Have most for over 5 years, and again, only paid $9.95 on sale. My picket twister was bought from their on-line store, on sale. Came with a scroll maker, bender/ring roller, and the twister. They all been used extensively with no problems. 12 ton hydraulic press. Only wish is that it was taller. Again, no problems, and on sale for $79. I know that you get what you pay for, and maybe I have been lucky, (knock on wood), but I have no problems with their tools.
  6. Okay, so I cheated also. But hey, they work!
  7. I still question your desire for people to know you made it. If it were me, I would have said "LOOK WHAT FROSTY MADE FOR ME! TRY AND GUESS WHAT IT IS."
  8. Are you sure you want people to know that you made it?

  10. Looks good, and this is just an observation/ Anytime that I have forge welded something, and the seam shows, the weld did not take fully. That is what I see in your pics. Seam. Down both sides. First thing I would do is try and pull it apart. One more thing. When doing fire pokers, forge out a point, THEN fold it over and weld. It will easier than trying to point it after you have folded and welded.
  11. I think the term you intend is "SIDE BLAST". Side Draft refers to the hood design.
  12. The regulator is fine. The hose needs to be type "T". Type "T" is suitable for ALL gasses, where as type "R" is for acetylene only. You also must use cutting tips designed for propane. Standard tips allow propane to burn up into the tip. Propane tips are usually 2 piece, but will fit on standard handles. I do use standard brazing tips with no problems.
  13. Grade 8 refers to the highest standard strength achieved in the manufacture of bolts and hex cap screws. Grade 8 bolts are medium carbon alloy steel, quenched and tempered at a minimum temperature of 800
  14. "the water is pumped through by an air pump." This is the part that I am curious about. What type of air pump?
  15. I see a couple possibilities. 1) Working it too cold. Keep it HOT, HOT, HOT. 2) Over working the metal. 3) Poor quality of steel. This is the way mine look befor finishing. 1/4" cold rolled square. Necked down about 1" from the end, then rounded out for about 8". The smallest area at the base of the leaf is about 3/16. These are BBQ tools, and get a lot of use. Have not had one break yet. (buy the customers anyway.) The actual leaf is peened down and shaped last to about 3/32 thick.
  16. Now I gotta figure out what to do with 12 pieces of steel, bent on one end, and with a cheap wood handle pressed on the other end.
  17. They are forged from solid billets of stainless that I get from Walmart. The billits have handles on them that I cut off. The best part is that the billets were on closeout for 94 cents apiece. I picked up about 15 of them.
  18. Finished the the prototype last night. Already have orders for 5 sets with spatula.

  21. If you just want to patch it make it water tight, v it out and braze it up. To weld properly you need to pre heat, weld with nickel rod, then bury it in sand for a day to cool REAL slow. I have used a rod by Forney called NOMOCAST with fairly descent results and no pre heat. If you plan on using it for a cooking vessel, or something that will see heat, forget it.
  22. No shear marks on this stuff. Covered in rolling lube.
