  1. For anything from bowies to boot knives.
  2. Wow now that's a sweet piece of work!!
  3. Don't let anyone see it. Or they might buy it.
  4. I allways glue a strip of wood or rawhide inside to protect the sewing.
  5. We skin with railroad spikes super Sharp but don't hold an edge like 5160. They do win In the practice making and cheap to make categories
  6. Did the paracord get shiny with the wood hardener?
  7. Lol its all in fun as long as that's all we have to see of Steve's legs! Morgan I'm going to show that around. I like it.
  8. Got to thank Scott, John, amd Jack for the help and guidance on making these. I've only been doing this for 3 months worth of Thursday afternoons and the occasional Saturday mornings. The one with the handle is 2lb. And the wedge shaped head is 3. I was shooting for a 4lb. Hammer so I guess I should make another. :-)
  9. My club is looking into doing leg views as a work project. They did 8 spare tire power hammers last year. Now some of the membership want leg views. Including me! Anyone have measured drawings and a materials list?
  10. Think I've seen it in Florida USA we call it Australian Pine. Big trees long needles. Makes pretty good smoker/ grill wood. Try to get a piece with lots of knots or a. burl for making bowls. That is the wood with the best graining.
  11. As soon as I get my hammers finished
  12. I've held that knife. We were at the Choo Choo Forge when I first saw it. It is a great well made blade and he made it fit like it was factory stamped. I was going to throw away an old folder of mine. Not any more. I'll just wait until he's done with the damascus billet he's got in his truck and "borrow" a piece. Shhhh. :-)
  13. Oh its hardened. I gave it the bend chop beating test. It still shaves.
  14. It's from an antique hay rake tine. I really like the blue effect from normalizing. It has a inch and a 1/2 blade and I may epoxy a leather wrap on for a handle. Should make a good all purpose knife. I may even cut the handle down and make a pocket sheath for it.
  15. Tom I'll be banging out a few of these for practice. I'd like to gives the ones I make away to a friend and his oldest son for skinning deer and whatever else needs skinning before it goes into the freezer.
  16. Wood handles are best as they absorb shock that would normally transfer to your wrist and elbow. Metal and fiberglass don't do this near as well. I make garden tools to order. For friends and family members.if you need something in particular let me know. I use tool steel for all garden tools. My hoes and adzs can shape mild rock.
  17. Make 1 or2 of each to show off to customers. Then offer to make custom for them slightly longer taller different handle etc. Chefs use magnetic strips on walls not blocks. Damp knives don't go in blocks and blocks won't make it with health inspectors. Now a custom carry box for transporting knives from home to work are a good seller for career butchers and chefs. I make custom boxes for butchers here in Chattanooga. Message me and I'll send a photo.
