  1. These folks are in Jasper, GA. Maybe a couple of hours North of E. Atlanta. Easily a round trip in a day. http://www.georgiafarriersupply.com/contents/en-us/d167.html
  2. Never seen one like that myself but it is very cool. Does it mount to the floor like you have it setting? or underneath something. Nice find regardless. Thanks for posting the pics. Ken
  3. It’s in fair shape. I needs a few bolts replaced and the legs are rusted beyond repair. Blower seems to work good though. I plan to put it back in service as soon as possible. It’s larger than my little riveters forge set up and I’m looking forward to having the fire pot. Thanks, ken
  4. Thanks for the replies. I have searched on the internet for days and have not found anything exactly like it. I thought the Champion blower would make it identifyable. Thanks again, Ken
  5. Would different photos be of help? Ken
  6. Great looking forge. You really did a nice job fixing it all up. Thanks for posting all the pics. Ken
  7. I'm sure your dad liked the fire poker. Looks like it turned out real nice.
  8. These are sized correctly. Sorry about the large size on the others. Ken
  9. I picked this up at an auction Fri night and would like to get a little more information. I know the blower is a Champion. Any idea what model number it is? Also, Should there be some sort of firegrate over the clinker buster? Or does the coal sit directly on top? Thanks for any info or comments, Ken Photos in next post are sized.
  10. I just re-linned my forge using the suggested from members of this board of 1 part portland cement and 3 parts sand mixture. I forged for several hours on Mon. Cleaned out the forge and the linning hand two minor cracks. Not even something I would need to repair. Ken
  11. I always clay my forge and I recon I will continue. The forge stays inside so rust is not a hge concern. Any water I put on is around the edges from a sprinkle can. The ones I have seen that were cracked looked to be some sort of cast metal. Just curious. Ken
  12. I'd like to know what the thoughts are on the causes of a forge cracking? Is it heating up to fast? Cooling off to fast? Not linning? Do they still crack with some sort of lining in them? I figure someone here has had one crack on them at one time or another. Cheers, Ken
  13. Looks to be in great shape and a nice piece of history to boot. $200 is a great deal around my parts unless you are just having one of them lucky days. I'd have jumped all over that deal. Cheers, Ken
  14. Thought I would share a pic of my revamped portable forge cart. Finished it up yesterday and gave her a run today. Could make a few changes but all in all it accomplishes what I wanted. Sure was easy to roll it out of the basement and back in when I was finished. If I had the anvil portable I'd be set. Cheers, Ken P.S. Thanks to all that have posted the 1 part portland cement / 3 parts sand mix. I've been using cat litter which works but is not very durible. Tried the above mix, forged for several hours, cleaned out the forge and it's still in good shape.
  15. Neat idea using an old oil tank. Would have never thought of that. Thanks for posting the pics. Ken
  16. I've been wearing the search feature out. So far I've found 2 or 3 threads of answers for each question. Ken
  17. What a great site. My hats off to all that contribute and to the Administrators who spend time keeping the site up. I'd post questions but I have been reading answers to questions that have already been ask. The quality and quanity of information is incredible. Cheers, Ken
  18. When I lived in a neighborhood I was always more concerned over the smoke. IMHO, the ringing of an anvil is no more annoying than a lawnmower, weed eater, or using a skill saw. My neighbor was normally curious. He would normally bring his kids over to see what I was making. It was interesting to them. It certainly makes a difference as to how close to your neighbor's house you are and you should always be courteous as to WHEN you forge. No early morning or late afternoon forging. I have a friend that used to do small siminars on forge welding gun barrels. He would always let his neighbor know when he was planning to do one just to make sure he wasn't planning to forge suring his neighbors big bar-b-que event. A little common sense goes a long way. Ken
  19. No idea on the date but it sure is in great shape. Ken
  20. Sasks, Thanks so much for the information. Ken
  21. Here's a picture of the anchor stamps on the front feet. ALso the side. Any additional information is appreciated. Thanks, Ken
  22. Like it was used in a shipyard at sometime or another? Thanks, Ken
  23. Can anyone help with the signifigance of the anchor stamp on the front feet of a Peter Wright anvil? I searched the archives here and found a reference to it but no answer. I recently cleaned up a 109 lb. PW which had 3 such anchors stamped in the feet. ANy help is appreciated. Thanks, Ken
