  1. I never cool it down with water, except when it starts to rain. :x "If I can only gets this done...Oh, what the heck!"
  2. Well, soon as I get my coal for Christmas, then I'll think of what to make. Heh, and I always get a kick out of telling people I got coal for Christmas. That is a present in itself.
  3. One of my favorite movies is Braveheart. I find it riveting.
  4. Archie, originally I was scared I had killed the yeast. I pitched it in way too soon, it was still very warm. However, it is fermenting. It bubbles, and it has that "alcohol" smell. (A very strong alcohol smell!) I figure mine will be done sooner than three weeks, as all I have is honey, water and raisins. I'll rack it to the bottles, and let it finish the secondary fermentation in there. I'll put balloons on top of course. Don't want any explosions!
  5. I was kinda worried because my mead didn't do anything for almost a week. It just sat there, making me angry, but I figured I'd give it time. Sunday I checked it, and there was a mess load of bubbles at the top. I shook it, and it bubbled like when you lightly shake a bottle of soda. I figure I'll give it a few more days, rack it for secondary fermentation, then bottle a few days later. I'm so happy right now, kinda like when you ace a test you thought you had failed.
  6. Yeah, I was gonna let it ferment all the way, (I have nothing but honey, water, and yeast), then I was gonna run it through filter paper into the bottles.
  7. I made some today, just traditional honey with a tad bit of orange juice. I think I got over zealous with the yeast, as there is a bunch sitting at the bottom. grrr.... Anyway, I'll let it sit for a few weeks and see what happens.
  8. How do you know the alcohol content? Did you use the calc, or is there a method I don't know of?
  9. That's wierd. I've never heard anything like it.
  10. I can't remember much about it, but I do believe it is the one showing Paul Champagne making a sword. Might not be, but I've definately seen it. If anyone sees it in the listings anytime, give us a holler.
  11. Cory, have you ever been around the campus? If so, how does it look? I've heard it is very nice, but haven't had the time to visit.
  12. Yeah, I gotta look for unused tracks, but there ain't any around here.
  13. Has anyone ever been walking along RR tracks and "found" a few spikes? And taken them with you? I'm thinking of doing such, but only if I find them, I'd never steel...
  14. Wow, I didn't realize that course was offered at Edwardsville also. I'm looking at SIU-Carbondale, but have no idea what either one of them is like.
  15. Can you get coal from UMBA? (If anyone here is in that.) I joined up, but moved out of country right afterwards, so don't know a bunch about it. (I'm back now if ya can't tell;)
  16. You'll have a synergy of your energies... :)
  17. Wait you were sober when 'voting', but your 'parents' gave you the ok. Oh, never mind, I'll just get more confused. Tell me how it turns out. I think I might try and make some soon. What'd you make yours out of that you had to rack it?
  18. How long does the kind you're making take before it is ready? Looked at the site, all I saw take a few months.
  19. The colors of the steels go well with the handle ;)
  20. Hi, 4 years too young to drink here, Did you look up on the net how to make mead? (Parents let me drink a little too.)
  21. I'm planning on going to college next year. I'd like to go to SIU, as they have a metalworking program. Though I'm not going to major in it, you can take it as your elective.
  22. Ditto to that. Bent poker is the way to go. I split it a little about .5 inch at the end.
