  1. Prayers and Thoughts sent for a speedy recovery....
  2. Yup... as a matter of fact you did Acid core leaded solder it is.... I'll see if I can duplicate your instructions.... and not take a month to do it... Heck... I think I even have some 3/16 copper tubing lying under by bench... Thanks Grant...
  3. Thanks Grant.... Can I use 1/4?.... That's what I have been using for the coils... or is 3/16 the way to go... I think I need to get another adapter for that... Very cool... been thinking on it all week... was going to try the torch bend method tonight and test tommorrow.... Building an arm and spring guard for my 25lb Little Giant... You know me and safety... ;)
  4. That information is very helpful to me ... I made a 7 turn coil and couldn't get the 2 1/8" to heat up much even after 20 minutes... Then I made a 4 turn coil and voila... it worked... is this what you are talking about in terms of lower and higher frequencies?... or is that something else...? I've touched the steel to the coil on occasion without anything happening... but is there something I should be concerned about? What kind of insulation is used on the coils? I'm very fascinated and interested in coil design and your comments are very helpful.... Thanks
  5. And some pics of the heats I did.... Let me know if anyone has any questions... although Grant is probably the better person to ask.... I'm kinda "slow" when it comes to high voltage:o Here's some youtube vids I uploaded YouTube - JDHforge's Channel
  6. Here's some more pics of the accessories that come with the unit... And some coils i made... very easy to do... Except... I'm still trying to figure out how to make one those flat coils that Grant has....:D
  7. Just for you Phil Here's some pics of the unit all wired and plumbed with the tig cooler on the bottom of the cart....
  8. I took the plunge and ordered a unit from Grant... Glad I did... very impressive..... And Grant is just the best when it comes to help and service both before the sale and after... Of course... I was a little more of a "high maintenance" customer... If folks are interested ... I'll post some pics of the whole unit and set up from opening the box to set up, plumbing and first fire up...;)
  9. Man that's a beautiful anvil.... congrats! must be nice to have it "home":D
  10. Sorry about that... Kaneohe is on the Windward side of the island of Oahu.... :)
  11. Hey Phyl.... so am I correct that the only way to order one of these is to go to a conference, meet or faire ?... I'm definitely interested in one of these as well... shipping to Oahu will be a consideration Sent a pm for some info too:D
  12. That's great!... Let us know how the heat treat goes and what you plan or decide on the process.... Thanks!
  13. Nice... any chance that 1095 is from Aldo?... wondering how it forged out... thanks...
