I think brushed nickel or brushed aluminum.  

Make an aluminum box to cover it with. Make it so it covers stump and anvil put handles on the side so you can lift it off when you want to use it.  Then you can use the top of the box as a small bench for your tools when you are forging. Be for covering wipe the anvil with oil.

As long as you are hitting hot metal on it it will treat you right.  I have never had a problem with my 150 lb Vulcan.  I like it.  I like my reflinghaus better but have never disliked my Vulcan. 

The grate shape is the same as my buffalo rivit forges.  Just as stated above.  The grate is flat on the bottom.  Have put many hours in a forge like that.  No clay.  You should look into getting 3 fire brick for it.  They help with making a deeper fire by using two for sides and one in back around your air inlet.  Then if you need a longer fire you can take the back one out.

You did great you're symmetry into the arches has a nice organic flow.   Alround great rail.  It is fun to work on older buildings where you can tie new to old.  

Did you drill and epoxy into the steps??  Beautiful design.  Bet was fun getting all the punch and drifted holes right.

The other problem with doing it in cad is when you put the hot scroll up to or on you screen to check it does not like it.  

It is a canedy Otto hero riviters forge that worked off a pump handle.

In that forge I think it is more for diverting the air flow to different parts of the fire than it is for breaking clinkers. 

Had a good weekend at my place a couple Saturday's ago.  We went over steel roses, Russian roses, and a candle cup holder.  Had about 27 on Saturday and 8 on Sunday.  Was wet and rainy both days.  Good thing forge is all inside.

IronWolf will do.  It took about 8 minutes to get the shapes I wanted.  The sheet I started with were 48"x60"x 3/8" thick.  I just need someone around when I do my next one so they can video it.

Yes, there are a couple groups that meet in steel city ne which is southeast of Fairbury ne then the Summerville ks group which is south of Beatrice ne.  When also have guys around Nebraska city.  Wayne Lindhart is in clay center ks.

How far are you from the Nebraska boarder?? The PBA has a lot of smiths running down hwy 81 from Hebron NE to Salina KS.

then some more around Phillipsburg KS.  My place is about an hour and a half north of  Phillipsburg. 

Here ya, she is great though very supportive and always wanting more.  (That didn't sound right) but she does give me some good clients.  

Part of the problem is the shop is a couple hundred feet from the house.  Some stuff never gets to go far.  The thing that makes it worse is the mother-in-law lives across the street (at least she pays $) leaving not much for selling.  But does give great displays.  

Will be using a shovel to get a lot of the land scaping done.  Will get in trouble if I tear up the grass.  What I have planned will not take much and will blend into the surroundings. 

What about Refflinghause anvils?? Nice sight though. 

I am confused you have a hammer and an anvil how can you not have the tools to make a horseshoe. 

Frosty the wife will not let it go.  Will do some up lighting and landscaping around it.  

As for the dies I have been working with a company that builds concrete breakers and am working on some quick attach dies.
