Dave Leppo Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 I broke the PT holder in the break room @ work, so I installed a replacement. There are actually two, and I have another in the works, matching but slightly different. 1-1/2" x 3/16"thk fb & 3/8" dia round Quote
Ian Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 I like it, especially the little 'keyways' you made for the cross bar, VERY nice design solution. Only thing to watch for, maybe, is the points of those 'fleur de lys'. You might find that the roll catches on them as it turns. Tweaking them out a bit further would fix the issue should it arise. Ian Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Like I said before, my compliments on an excellent design solution. Very clean, simple and effective. Quote
MRobb Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Great design! I really like it. I'm gonna have to add this to my ever growing list of projects to try. Quote
Rob Browne Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 With that quality replacement the bosses are going to be breaking things all over the place and blaming you!! Great design and work, you should be proud. Quote
piglet_74 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 That is very cool. Could you post a pic more from the side? It looks like you chiseled two lines, one inside the other. Did you do that before you fullered it on edge? I think what appeals to me is that you used the mushrooming from the fullering as a design element. Rob Quote
Dave Leppo Posted January 29, 2009 Author Posted January 29, 2009 THANKS, ALL! pig; sorry, no pic, but yes, I incised four lines. The material is 1-1/2" wide. I have a 1/4" and a 1/2" incising chisel. These have a cutting edge, and a "hook" edge which I run along the edge of the bar, setting the distance. I clamp a rail plate onto the anvil to give me a "fence" to lay the bar on. This was dome cold in this case. then, when you fuller the edges in, the grooves follow to varying degrees depending on the distance from the edge. I'm not as happy with the towel bar in this respect as I am with the attached experiment. Thicker bar works better. Quote
