June 2Jun 2 Mostly I’m here for the memories of my deceased husband, Jerry Frost (Frosty). I can almost hear him talking when he responded to posts here). He’s been gone almost six months now and I’m reluctantly preparing to liquidate his metal shop. It’s HARD. I will have the assistance of members of the Alaska Blacksmith Association, but thought perhaps members here might be able to answer some questions regarding the value of certain tools and equipment? It’s a big shop, with LOTS of stuff mostly alien to me.Here’s a picture of Frosty the day he bought his Little Giant power hammer. Happy man - new toy! Sadly, he bought the power hammer just 6 months before suffering a severe TBI, so didn’t get the many years of use out of it he was expecting. And yes, it’s for sale. Meadow Lakes, Alaska.
June 2Jun 2 Welcome, Deb! Of course, we will be happy to help in whatever way we can. Frosty was a cornerstone of this community, and he is sorely missed.
June 4Jun 4 Good Morning Deb,As you, we all are still in disbelief. One day he is here, the next not. I guess we all have that to look forward to!!I would love to be able to assist you, but I can't swim that far. LOL I think you will be in great hands with the Alaska Blacksmiths helping you. If there is any way any of us can help you, we will, without hesitation. Most of us are not "just around the Corner' but we are at the end of your keyboard. Thanks, Neil Gustafson
June 4Jun 4 Dear Deb,First, I was devastated by Jerry's passing. First, we lost Thomas Powers and now Jerry. The world is a sadder place with them not in it. However, I do expect to see them at the other end of the Rainbow Bridge.Second, as far as selling off and passing on Jerry's shop I think you are doing well with the Alaska Blacksmith Association. The market for blacksmith tools is going to be different in Alaska than in the lower 48 because of isolation and being sort of a closed system and they will know the ins and outs. Finally, and I know this from dispersing my wife's spinning and weaving stuff is when faced with a choice think of what Jerry would want and where he would want it to go. I think that if it was a choice of something going to a newer Smith or an old dog Jerry would have preferred for something to go to the new guy.If we can be of any help please do not hesitate to ask our hive mind.Yours,George MonssonLaramie, WY

Sunday at 10:32 PM3 days I still miss Jerry and the conversations we were involved in, May he Rest in Peace knowing so many of us held him in high regard.Prayer of departed“Just close your eyes and you will see, All the memories that you have of me. Just sit and relax and you will find, I’m really still there inside your mind. Don’t cry for me now I’m gone, For I am in the land of song. There is no pain, there is no fear, so dry away that silent tear. Don’t think of me in the dark and cold, For here I am, no longer old. I’m In that place that’s filled with love, known to you all as ‘UP ABOVE’.” Randy Haven aka Irondragon Forge and Clay WorksI can’t control the wind.
