February 6Feb 6 I've been selling some steel and a couple post vises, I didn't really intend on selling any of my anvils but a guy is real interested in my small Swedish anvil. I've had it about 20 years and I don't remember how much I paid. Rebound is 90%. Any ideas as to a price that is fair? It's in Tucson, AZ.
February 6Feb 6 The small ones seem to go for a bit more per pound than shop sized ones. The Swedish anvils have a good reputation and yours looks in pretty good shape. I would think $250-350 would be appropriate around these parts.
February 6Feb 6 In Tucson? I would think 5-7 a lb if in good shape and the rebound is good. They're rarer as you go west. Not entirely sure - been in WA state too long and they're astronomical up here most of the time.
February 7Feb 7 I once sold a fisher 50lber for 350- that’s fair, in my opinion. You could probably get up to 500 for the right buyer.
February 7Feb 7 It doesn't matter what different people around the world think it 'MAY BE WORTH'. If you find a young person who could use it, SURPRISE THEM!! Neil
February 7Feb 7 Neil- that’s the true blacksmiths attitude. I have a hornless 90lb anvil that I will gift to my student when he is ready to build his own shop
February 7Feb 7 I would start out at $500 and then you can always haggle down if needed. I can’t control the wind. All I can do is adjust my sails. ~Semper Paratus~ USCG 1964-1970
