Any idea who makes this hammer?

Featured Replies

Saw this hammer on Youtube, and am curious who makes it, or perhaps its a custom design? I searched but couldn't find the logo.

Thanks,

Glad you delurked B99, if you put your general location in the header you'll have a better chance of meeting folk who live within visiting distance.

I've never seen one like it but it appears to be mass produced maybe in the east. I like the different pein radii, I'd like to give on a try. Maybe one of the gang knows, give it some time.

Can you give us a link to the YouTube video? That might provide some clues.

Here's the link!

Thanks!

Taking a look at his YouTube page and doing a little websearching, the best I can come up with is that he's somewhere in central Asia, probably Azerbaijan. Haven't been able to locate a source for the hammer, but like Frosty, I find the different radii appealing.

While the hammer is cool, i am interested in that set of tongs. I can not get the video to play so all i can see is the boss and jaws but they look kind of interesting.

Also, as a machinist there is something that is kind of soul crushing watching someone do that to a huge drill.

I think the reason many of his thumbnails look a little off is from using AI to make the image… his tong in the video are more typical round jaw tongs. (Not like backwards pliers with the rubber grip on the jaws instead of on the reigns. Kind of like AI generated images of people that look great, but feel off, then you realize there are too many teeth in the smile)

Keep it fun,

David

Here are a couple of closeups of the tongs:

Ah, AI. That explains it. Like the AI painting of the "Battle of Agincourt", soldiers with machine guns and one i saw a fighter plane in.

I don't think that's an AI-generated image, just a digitally enhanced one (increased contrast and dynamic range, etc).

Dont know but they definitely look off now that i really look.

While I'd like to try one like it I'd probably be much faster and more "predictable" quality to forge one myself. 1045 shaft stock isn't hard to come by, ask to buy from the drops at a machine shop that works on heavy trucks.

At least you won't have to put up with a much easier to break round handle eye. "Break the handle not the eye .<SHEESH!>

Even better buy a used 2-3lb. single jack sledge at a yard, garage, etc. sale and grind whatever shape faces you like on it.

I have a couple on my hammer rack. One is a stupid too heavy straight pein that injured my wrist and elbow in the first 10 minutes. It's now on a "half jack" handle and works but is still too heavy.

More than 10 fingers or two hands is a dead giveaway.  Also, if the entire crowd in the background is cross-eyed, that's another one.
