coachcamm
Hello, I am going to look at an anvil and would like to know if anyone can ID the maker. I only have one picture. Seller says it weighs about 200 lbs. Edited February 22, 2019 by coachcamm Mis spelled help

coachcamm
Thank you for the info. I did buy the anvil today and discovered it is a mouse hole. Could you tell me where the best place is to post pics of it and try to get some info? Thanks
Glenn
Right here would be a good place, you already have the thread started.
coachcamm
So I found some markings. Definitely a mouse hole. First number looks like an upside down 3 to me. Some say it's a 2. Any thoughts/info would be appreciated. I'll post more pics tomorrow after I clean it up. Thanks
ThomasPowers
That's the weight stamp and mouse holes use the CWT system so Weigh it and you will know what it should be! (how to calculate weight using the CWT system has been posted here many many times...) Asking specific questions is a good method of getting info. Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
Congratulations on your find. Pretty sure the first number is a 2... that would put the weight at 256 pounds (close to the sellers guess). If it was a 3 the as forged weight would be 368 pounds. Your Mouse Hole looks to be in excellent shape, hope you have read about not doing any welding, milling or grinding on the hardened face. All it needs to shine is to have hot steel pounded on it. If you don't mind how much did it set you back? The last mouse Hole I looked at in my area would have left a huge hole in my wallet and it wasn't in as good as shape as yours. Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
I love those deals when I can find them. Just a note I see your description of the deal has been moderated for using unacceptable wording on a G rated forum. We all slip up at times. coachcamm
I apologize for the language. Yes I just fell into this. Had no idea what it was until I got it home. I'll post some pics after I clean it up.
