sfDuck
When you decide to finnally design yours, as I did. Where do you register them, is there a registry? How many have registered simmilar marks as theirs? If there is no registry could we post our marks here?
unkle spike
Anvil fire has a touch mark registry...anvilfire.com - Blacksmithing and Metalworkers Reference for Blacksmiths Not the only one I am sure, but one of them anyhow.
sfDuck
Thanks Jeff, but for $25 bucks i'll post a pic here on the gallery. Always pinch yer pennies an the buck will stay @ home.
Travis Covington
I don't think the registry has been kept up. One of our guys asked Jock about it a couple years ago and he said he just didn't have time for it. Travis
Marc
I mentioned this before, but one of New England Blacksmiths' finer smiths, Lucian Avery, made in interesting statement at one of our meets. He uses his name as his touchmark. The reasoning is, "You can't Google a logo". --Marc
rthibeau
Although a collection of touchmarks would not have any real standing without some sort of government registration, I can see the benefit to honest, hardworking, blacksmiths not wanting to step on someone's mark already in use.....or using existing marks as a reference example. IFI would be a nice place to collect touchmarks..could have a separate place in the Gallery just for them.
eburgblue
Could these be registered as a brand is that is used on animals? Possible through the same registry. Check with a local farm shop or feed store or equestrian group.
unkle spike
I didn't realize they charged 25 bucks for it. Perhaps our own registry here would be better.....
Zsartell
I agree, a registry here on IFI would be great.
Glenn
We have added a section in the gallery for touchmarks.
rthibeau
Be careful how you try to upload photos of touchmarks....when I tried it wanted to add all photos from my albums. Might need to check that Glenn.
Glenn
You can now add several photos to the gallery at one time. This, and the touchmark section in the gallery, are some of the changes that are being made to the site.
