here' s some smitty knives, figures id use up some tiny scraps:

one is wrought and nickel,one is 1085/15n20 welded over piece of cable, and the other is cable

Those are slick. I do almost the same thing with any scrap bit too small for a big knife. They make great gifts and usually sell fast when given the chance. Nice patterns. Good looking little blades. Keep it up!

where or how do you get damascus steel?

Many of us make it ourselves :)

I usually forgeweld up a billet of pattern welded steel from bandsaw blades and pallet strapping. Scraps have become every thing from hammer handle wedges to ladle handles to the first pattern welded pizza cutter I made---which generated a request from my wife for a "spiffy one"
