August 16, 20169 yr Is their any way to tell the age of my sisco supreme I just aquired ? I'm just curious , I'm just a history nut.
August 16, 20169 yr There is a copy of a ad published in A.I.A. for Sisco solid steel anvils. The original ad is dated 1914. I have a 99#ER, not a lot of information out there. Thats until the next Anvils in America. N.N.F. Beautiful, Manchester, Michigan. USA
August 16, 20169 yr Most Swedish anvils I've met have date stamps. Look on the side opposite the side with Superior, it's "model name." I'm not familiar with Sisco anvils though so my opinion is suspect. Frosty The Lucky.
August 16, 20169 yr Author Looked really close couldn't find any markings opposite side from trademark stamp
August 16, 20169 yr Most Sisco's I've seen do not have a year stamp. They are quite non-marked, except for a weight stamp and the rather small rectangular name stamp. Sisco was for Swedish Iron & Steel Company, it was incorporated in New York, 1907 as an importer of Swedish steel products. They also had a branch in New Orleans. Most likely Sisco anvils are Soderfors patterns (or other Swedish anvil makers) labeled for U.S. import. Sisco was bought out by another company in 1918. So as a guess for the age of the anvil, any Sisco I'd say is between 1907-1918.
August 16, 20169 yr Oh yeah, my S.I.S.co has a stamp on the front foot. It is an upside-down C around an upside-down F. I think the same stamp is on some other Swedish anvils. N.N.F. Beautiful, Manchester, Michigan. USA
