Anchor fire poker

Featured Replies

Did my first show this past Saturday. The show was only so so, but I did get this commission piece out of it. They wanted a 4' fire poker for their backyard fire pit, and it had to have nautical theme. So did my first anchor, then used some 3/16 rod, that I twisted, to symbolize some rope for the handle. Gave it some reverse twists about half way down the shaft, just to give it a little character. Just sent them the pictures and they are ecstatic, so I'll take that as a win.

Nice piece. Well done. Looking at the shackle ring on the anchor finial makes me think a couple more would make it a multi tasker and become a tripod for cooking or spit for roasting.

I recommend you not open the hook so far next time though that one looks good.

Very nice work, sir. I guess the hand would fit comfortably on the main shaft of the anchor, the tines acting a bit like a knife guard. The rope looks authentic. The heavy black finish is appropriate too. The buyers are happy and that's the main thing!
