The inside glowed high orange/yellow , im not sure how hot that is though, im not plannjng on opening it up again 

That's hot enough to weld in once you get the technique right but I'll bet it'll get hotter. How long was it running before you called it good for the test? Keep the doors as closed as possible without interfering with the burner, you want to keep the fire inside as long as possible to transfer heat to the liner.

 That was only 15-20 minutes after lighting it.

You now DESPERATELY need to seal the inside surfaces of that forge with a high heat refractory, for the safety of yourself, and everyone else in its vicinity!!! By the way, congratulations on getting this far
