TheoRockNazz
Hi Depuuty, Welcome to the addiction that is knifemaking. That's quite nice for a second knife. Can you tell us a little more about it? What's the steel, handle material, how'd you heat treat?
Depuuty
Not sure what type of steel but I'm pretty sure it's good material wood is pine quenched in oil tempered at 450 for 3 times for 90 mins like i said I'm novice
Daswulf
Just now, Depuuty said: like i said I'm novice I'm no knife maker. but i'd venture to say there is alot of awesome reading material here on IFI and knowledge to learn from. looks like a good steak knife to me. keep on learning and keep it up! ThomasPowers
Did it harden? "good steel" is dependent on it's use; a great steel for roses would be a terrible steel for knives---and vice versa. Not knowing the alloy or how hot it was when you quenched it we can't say if your heat treat was great or terrible. The lines are clean and it does not look excessively thick and the wood is not mangled in place; so if the alloy and heat treat are both appropriate then well done.
