January 16, 201610 yr The inside jaws have been installed on my lath for years and I've marked them to match the chuck. But today, I needed the outside jaws to hold a large piece. That's when I realized that those jaws were not match to the chuck. Spent a bit of time using the "hit and miss" method.....then shut off the lights and went inside. Even a fool knows his limits. So what is the secret, math formula for timing these jaws to meet in the middle..........THX, Keith
January 16, 201610 yr Been to long can't remember the right terminology any more. But I took a few pics of the jaws for my little lathe and hope it helps with yours. Start the jaws on the scroll in order 1-2-3 and you should be good as new again.
January 16, 201610 yr Good Morning, The chuck should also have numbers marked on the inside of the space for each jaw. Start 1 in #1, turn the key until the start of the start of the thread is vible in #2, insert #2 jaw. Continue for #3. Neil
January 16, 201610 yr LOL, You've just got yersel in a flumox! Back out there today and you'll drop them in first time no problem. Unless they are not a matched set of jaws!!!!!
January 16, 201610 yr Many moons ago and I mean MANY when I had this problem I had a simple fix, I turned around and called the Set up Guy and went and took a break. You seemed to get the Take a Break part working for you.
