January 18, 201511 yr While my LG is idling it has started to make a thudding noise. Everything seems to be running ok, but this noise worries me. Does anyone know what could be causing this?
January 18, 201511 yr what size lg 25,50,100... mine is a 25 and does that until the oil/greese is warmed up. it is the open end wrench looking things on the clutch. i don't know if it is good or bad.
January 19, 201511 yr Only thing turning at idle is the flywheel. You might try oiling the clutch blocks if you have not already done so. Only other thing I can think of is the bearing upon which the flywheel spins is worn and/or dry.
January 19, 201511 yr Author I have the clutch blocks oiled. If it is the bearing, how should I proceed?
January 19, 201511 yr Author I am not sure of your question ThomasPowers. I have shims under the clutch blocks, but that is it. I thought about the noise being caused by it rocking on the floor, but it seems to be tight against the pad.
January 22, 201511 yr Are your bearing caps tight? If they work loose the whole shaft will hammer up and down as it runs and make the noise you describe.
January 22, 201511 yr I believe the shims under the bearing caps are what Thomas is talking about. Frosty The Lucky.
