strange looking anvil

A friend at a junkyard send me this pic just now. First time i see an anvil like this. ....... John Brookes saw makers anvil. Any info on it please. ?..
He will keep it for me untill next week......

sawyers anvil used to tune circular saw blades ... knife makers like them...

If they were used correctly in their intended life, the anvil top was never struck with a hammer.  There was always a saw blade on the anvil and the hammer only hit the blade.  When in use, the top was very flat and usually very clean, almost to a polished finish.
