Good!  Blades are senior-level projects that all freshman want to make.  You're right to start with more basic projects that help improve your skills.

The ram's head is looking good.  I'll look forward to seeing the finished product

Made the punches and blunt chisel today. I going to try and finish it by this weekend.

Started to finish the ram head today made the eyes nostrils and mouth. Reheated to start the horn twist and left it just a second to long and melted one horn so I'm going to try again tomorrow.

Take solace in knowing that you're not the first to "make" a unicorn! :D

Lol I would be ok with that if that was my original intention

Are you planning on drawing out the horns? How tight do you plan on makin the horns?

yes i plan on it but im not sure how tight they will be ill make that decision when i get to it. Getting more coal this weekend so ill be able to try it again.

Just a thought: Of all the wild rams in the USA, I have never seen one in pics or mounted that had any more than one full curl......Artistic freedom can change all of that whenever we wish,,,,,Good start and for sure it will help you build skills....

Some wild Dall rams will have up to 1 1/2 curl. Also some can lose enough of a horn to have only have like 1/4 curl left, I do not think that these are truely broomed off like you see so often with big horn rams. I think they might get an infection like a hoof abcess and just lose a major part of their horn. These can help with lost horns being explained.

Just curl what you have got TJ the thinner they are the easier they will disappear in the forge again.

Remember to walk before you run. Good luck and we love photos

I thought about finishing it anyway but it would just annoy me till I started over anyway. I'll try again when I get more coal
