  1. Do you happen to have some pictures of the tips in profile? That picture is at an odd angle.
  2. Is there a resource for tools? I'm planning on making a complete set of hot and cold chisels, but I need reference pictures.
  3. I know the traditional way to make tongs, and it just isn't for me. If you have a welder and some flat and round stock you can make a pair of tongs in a few minutes if you don't mind grinding a little bit. The best part is that this way you can get tongs that mate perfectly. It's good for making a specialized pair of tongs quickly.
  4. I came up with an idea for a necklace, but as you can see I'm still a bit rough. I've never had much luck in making leaves, I should probably practice more.
  5. Thanks for the advice, I might have something to show you guys later.
  6. if you are able to weld, I'd do the table yourself. To machine a 12" disk with 8 holes I was asked for about $60. I'd say about $100 as an absolute minimium.
  7. Are you planning on drawing out the horns? How tight do you plan on makin the horns?
  8. I've only recently started to make jewerly, before this I've mostly been making more utilitarian objects (knives, hooks, forks, pokers, ect). Back to the point, I've been tasked by my family, mostly my sister and mother with making jewelry for them. The problem is that I've had trouble finding designs 99% of the things I've found have been cheaply made wares. I was wondering if you good people could help me find some nice designs or at some critique? I only have the first three bracelets I've made on hand, the rest are at the shop.
  9. I was wondering if iron sulfate would be suitable to smelt, I've looked around my area and it's the only kind of iron ore I can get my hands on. Will the sulfer impact the smelting process at all? I believe it's pretty rich in iron, but I'm not a geologist. Can anyone here chime in?
  10. It's just that simple huh? That doesn't seem to difficult, but knowing my luck I'll sand it in half.
  11. In my area I can only buy anthracite, while not as good as bituminous it still gets the job done. I also get it for $7 for 50lbs.
  12. It's much better than the anvil I'm using now, at least the back of the anvil looks servicable.
  13. The only marking I can make out is a 10, everything else is worn off.
  14. I have a question. Let's say I did this but with pig iron or scrap metal. Would it have the veins of slag in it? I've been trying to find wrought iron but it's impossible, and I can't get any ore in my area.
  15. As you can see the sides are chipped, what would be the best course of action?
