October 25, 201114 yr Sweet! I saved the link for when my wife needs a gift idea for me. Thanks for posting! Mitch
October 25, 201114 yr That's an oldie but a goodie. I bought that one back in the '70's. Now I'm making my own using my 60 ton hydraulic forging press.
October 25, 201114 yr That's a cast pot metal buckle. I made mine by CAD-ing out my 163# Peter Wright to scale and then using the CAD program to print a bunch of them at various other scales. When I found one I liked, I cut it out and glued it to a piece of lucite sheet and cut/filed it to match. Took the piece of lucite and used it as the master for a petrobond mold setting the sprues and vents to serve as the place for the belt to attach and the hook for the belt holes. Then I cast it in silver---a lot cheaper back in the early '90's! Cleaned it up, gave it a hammered finish, stuck a crossbar through the sprues for the belt to fasten to and have worn it off and on ever since. Pretty easy to do in brass too.
October 25, 201114 yr I've seen that same buckle on ebay several times, lately. Don't remember what it went for, though. <_<
October 25, 201114 yr randy love the buckles - very elvis thats a compliment in my book ( just incase there was any doubt... ) very groovy textures!

October 14, 201213 yr Not as classy, but a whole xxxx of a lot easier to make ... Think it came from Houston Area Blacksmith Assoc. (HABA)
October 14, 201213 yr I think that buckle came from Centaur forge, I have the farrier one from the 70's
October 14, 201213 yr Just saw this in a random search and had to share...I need one! Ha! I have that very same buckle, a present from the wife about five years ago. The picture doesn't do it justice, loaded with detail. 3 1/4" wide. On the back it says "The Great American Buckle Co. U.S.A." copyright 1986 and a serial number, 1807.
October 15, 201213 yr On a whim and with no real plan in place, just a vague idea I made this for myself. Rather simple design. Sorry about the poor picture quality. Just took those on a whim as well. ron
