What tools did you use(If you tell me hammer and anvil I'll dislocate my jaw.LOL Jordan
wolfe
That is really good. I'd like to know how you did that. Wolfe
Larry H
thanks for the feedback you guys, sorry to hear about your jaw, jordan12'. The hammers and chisels are all the same as you most likely have in your shop, (I'm still learning their many uses)
beth
smithy thats so great - i love yr stuff - really interesting to see the step by step, its beautiful work - do you sell these privately or in gallery??
Dillon Sculpture
Thats really cool to see it emerge from the metal! Have you ever done just parts of the face, like an eye or nose? I like just the hint of the features coming through, I was able to complete the image in my mind and seemed to connect with the piece more. beth
i agree danger - the half done faces are almost more engaging - tho both are beautiful. .

Larry H
When I started I used 1/8, When I ran out I only had with 14 Ga. laying around so I tried it and I liked it, its easier to push around, but I think I might try 1/4",
mbaird
Since you're doing it hammer & chisel, are you going from the inside (skull-side), outside, or both? Looks great! Thanks for sharing
Mark Emig
Hi Larry, Wow! looks great. That's even better than the ones you brought to the Hammer-In that Jon and I put on, and they were very nice. Keep posting pics. Mark Emig
youngdylan
Good stuff Smithy I tend to agree with Danger and Beth, kinda like #4 best, there's definitely expresssion in the eyes but the half formed mouth/jaw "keeps you guessing"
bosamurai1
I watched your Youtube vid of this! I am was amazed then, and I am amazed now! great work!
Mainely,Bob
Larry`s work is just incredible and he`s a wealth of knowledge on how to do this sort of thing. I can tell you up front that it`s much harder than he makes it look. He has an eye for line, form, balance and detail that is hard to duplicate. At least for me it is. Don`t let that stop you from trying though. I figure with a few more years of practice I may be close to his rough renderings of the human face.
