hm...
that is an amazing find. I have never seen a doo-hickey in such good condition before. In reality the end of the doo-hickey is supposed to attach to a thing-a-ma-jobber and is used to work on whatchamadiggies, but I suppose a person could definitely use it as a cone mandrel.

The hex on the threaded part and the square drive on the center piece make me wonder if the center part turns freely inside the outside, which would make it some kind of expansion device minus the expanding end or die.

The treated part is moving freely.

Doo-hickey:confused: Any synonym for doo-hickey?

Length for this "what ever it is" is about 40 cm (15.7 inch)
