jimmy seale Posted March 5, 2010 Share Posted March 5, 2010 hello ben, they don't have enough carbon to hold a good edge,but there is a brine quench some use to harden low carbon steel. i would just heat it up and quench in ice water and no temper. that will harden it up some,hope this helps,jimmy Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I've been planning on making a couple of my own but i just haven't had time to because im a Blacksmith doing ornamental iron work in gates, fences, handrails, furniture and custom work. i do it the old traditional Blacksmith methods using a coal forge.
