natkova
Does anyone use water when forging with charcoal. I saw blacksmtih do that, he use wet rugg and dip some water around fire? I think it helps to make charcoal a bit heavier.
ThomasPowers
I don't. I try to build/tweak my forge so that all the charcoal contributes to the forging heat and so no need to wet down "excess" charcoal on the sides and then have to cook off the water to use it. natkova
How do you mean? You build forge with fire or you mean fireopot? Edited October 29, 2022 by Mod30 Remove excessive quote.
Frosty
A firepot is only one part of a forge. My go to solid fuel forges don't have a firepot at all, I shape and size the fire with firebricks regardless of the fuel. Frosty The Lucky.
