FieryFurnace
What are you using them to hold? They look good to me. When I made my first pair I started with enough steel to make 3 pair of tongs (6 pieces)...when I got done I had 4 pieces of junk and one pair of tongs! And that was under professional supervision! (Thanks for your time Eddy! LOL) Anyway, I think they are great...Keep it up! Dave
junker
they were originally 2 10in. sections of 1in. by 1/2in. bar. these things took forever... the first side i did took me about an hour and a half and the second about 15 minutes. here's more pics :p

Rob Browne
We seem to be in a tong making season. Great work, keep it up :)
junker
i can't even begin to imagine how much easier it would have been with an anvil with a horn for the curves... all i have is an I-beam as an anvil... and only about 50ibs so it tends to bounce around and fall off the stump
Alaska
all I have is a round about 4 inch by 14 inch works good not great

junker
Sure they're a little rough, but other than a fire poker they're the first real work I've done at the forge... so I'm happy
Francis Trez Cole
you have to make nails to hold your I-beam on to your stump. Nice job on your first Set of tongs.
junker
So, based on the pics, is there any advice any1 can give me for my next pair.
Frosty
They look better than my first pair. Do you have one of the smithing how to books? "Art of Blacksmithing," "Complete Modern Blacksmith," etc.? They all have detailed instructions for making tongs. Frosty
